Klášterec nad Orlicí, a short distance from the Zemská brana

Klášterec nad Orlicí belongs to the oldest villages in eastern Bohemia. It was originally called Orlitz, Clausterum. At the end of the 13th century, Bishop Tobiáš of Bechyn approved the construction of a monastery for the order of the Crusaders. The village has had its current name since 1513.
The task of the order was, among other things, to provide shelter to merchants and travelers who passed through to Kladsk.
The monastery was destroyed during the Hussite Wars.
