The Premonstratensian monastery was founded in 1211 as a women's monastery. Its development was interrupted during the Hussite Wars, when it was burned down twice. In the 17th century, the monastery was converted into a male monastery. During the Second World War, all members of the order were taken to concentration camps by the Nazis, where most of them perished. In the 50s, the monastery was closed by the communists, and the religious could only return here in 1991.
