Jičín - statue of Our Lady of Rušanska

An interesting statue of the Virgin Mary of Rušánské is located on today's Comenius Square, but until 1919 the square was called Mariánské after the statue. The work was made in the middle of the 18th century. The inspiration for the sculpture was a Ukrainian icon from the 16th century with the Virgin Mary with black skin. This "miraculous" icon was placed in the Church of St. Ignatius.
