The somewhat long-winded name of the tree describes the location of the place where the memorial tree appears. White fir (Abies alba) used to belong to a much more numerous taxon in the species distribution of our mountain forests. Unfortunately, after the extraction of the original hemlock stands, they were mostly replaced by monoculture spruce in the forests.
