Founded as a market village probably at the end of the 12th century. The German name resembles a "bright" cleared place, the Czech name is documented from 1273 in connection with the nobleman Hroznáta, to whom the Hroznětín county was donated by King Přemysl Otakr I. In 1333, Hroznětín was elevated to a city by John of Luxembourg. After Lipany, it was sold to Emperor Zikmund (1434), who transferred it to Chancellor Kašpar Šlik. IN…
