Dolní Dunajovice - Karel Renner's house

Karel Renner was born in Dolní Dunajovice in 1870. In the years 1881-89 he studied in nearby Mikulov. His origins and further studies led him to Vienna and the ranks of the Austrian Social Democracy. He gradually became the leading politician of this party. After the disintegration of Austria-Hungary and the establishment of the new Austrian Republic, he became its Chancellor in 1918 and, after 1945, the Austrian President.
