The school building was built in 1911 at its own expense by the city for the state German metalworking school. It was intended for the education of pupils from Upper Austria and South Bohemia. In 1924, it was bought by the Czech Republic. state. Until the beginning of World War II, the Czech and German departments were under the same administration at the school.
