The Budějovice region beckons to visit the brewery, but also to the magnificent Hluboká castle

Everyone would like to live in České Budějovice, as the winged saying from the workshop of Cimrmanologists proclaims. But if you visit here for at least a short trip, you will see that there is something to that saying after all. The city, which literally breathes history, will offer cultural activities and a lot of fun for the whole family. So where do we start? On Hluboká there is an almost world-famous castle, but also a classy zoo.

Lock Deep nad Vltavou

English Tudor Gothic, which has no analogues in the country. Zoo Hluboká nad Vltavou

More than two thousand animals, six hectares of land and a smiling otter in the emblem. These are exactly the basic identifying marks of the deep ZOO, which was founded already in 1939. One of the most visited domestic zoos will also offer a tour of the adjacent hunting lodge, but also a view of the Ussuri tiger, eagles, chamois, bears and perhaps also a pack of meerkats. A red-necked kangaroo awaits in the Australian exhibit.

The Black Tower in České Budějovice

Right next to Přemysl Otakar II Square. is located less than The 72 meter high Black Tower, built here in the sixteenth century. The watchtower and signal tower, which was supposed to show the wealth of the famous city from afar, later also got a tower clock. Nine floors, seven bells and interesting stories based on old superstitions. There is a walkway on the top floor from which you can literally see České Budějovice in the palm of your hand!

The brewery, which is still majority owned by our state, has been brewing red juice for a long time. It was created already in 1895, but of course – brewing beer has a tradition in České Budějovice since the thirteenth century. The Budějovický Budvar brewery is the holder of several prestigious awards and is also a famous export item. If you are interested in a sightseeing tour, there is nothing easier than making an appointment here on a specific date...

Samson's fountain in České Budějovice

The baroque fountain from the beginning of the eighteenth century, which represents one of the main symbols of the city, is located in the central square near the Black Tower. The diameter of the fountain is seventeen meters, at the beginning of the nineties it underwent an expensive reconstruction and it can hold more than two hundred cubic meters of water without any problems. The fountain, whose motif is the biblical hero Samson sitting on a lion, used to supply water to a significant part of the city's population.

You can see for yourself that České Budějovice offers interesting experiences and fun trips. It would therefore be a shame to miss the pearls of the South Bohemian region. And when you're here, the road opens up to Český Krumlov, for example, Jindřichova Hradec or Třebon, so choose wisely!
