Brno - statue of Jiří Mahen
Jiří Mahen (1882-1939) was a well-known Brno librarian, writer, poet and playwright. His statue, today hidden in the green of the trees, is located in the middle of the park behind the Governor's Palace and looks down Rooseveltova Street towards the Janáček Theater. The monument was probably created as part of the decoration of the Janáček Theater and its surroundings. Artists Vladimír Koštoval (design 1971), Otakar Oplatek and Vilém Zavřel took part in it.…
