Legend has it that someone brought an image of the Virgin Mary to the top of Boží Hora as early as the 12th century, but the first Baroque chapel was built on Boží Hora in 1713. The church was made of wood and the surrounding area was still covered by a wooden shelter. In 1784, the decree of Joseph II. the place of pilgrimage was canceled and the image of the Virgin Mary was transferred to the church in Skorošice. This church burned down in 1833 and took the painting as its own.
