The Blanice River is a right-hand tributary of the Otava, into which it flows near the village of Putim, about 5 km south of Písek. It springs on the northern slope of Knížecí Stolka (1.226 m) at an altitude of 960 m above sea level, about 15 km southwest of Volar.
In its upper reaches, it flows through a hilly landscape with numerous deeply incised canyon-like valleys. One of the most beautiful was preserved under the ruins of Hus Castle. In the section between…
