In the years 1958 – 1962, there was an Elizabeth surface lignite mine on the eastern edge of Vtelno.
Sludge from the wastewater treatment plant was then pumped into the residual pit after coal quarrying. This created a pond, which was gradually overgrown with reeds and became an undisturbed place for animals.
The sewage sludge, which had not been used for a long time, was cleaned and transformed into the suburban recreation area Bettynka.
A landscaped path leads around the pond…
