The royal city of Beroun was founded in 1295 by King Wenceslas II. on the site of the old settlement at the ford over Berounka (then Mže). A lot of local historical monuments and also a low hill directly above the city - Městská hora - have been connected with the history of the city since the beginning. 
On its hill, 290 m above sea level, in the Middle Ages, an advanced fortification was built to protect the city from the west. According to the amount of land she owned there…
