The Great Depot is called the site of the former permanent training camp of Austrian artillerymen. It got the name Depot according to its later use for storage purposes. The vast training ground, on an area of almost forty hectares, was established as part of the reorganization of the Austrian artillery in 1709 and operated until 1866.
