They sometimes give you goosebumps, especially if they are connected to some terrifying legend. So where should you go if you are from Vysočina and have a free weekend ahead of you? We bring you five options and you will definitely choose one...

A former part of the Jesuit college, which is in the immediate vicinity of the entrance to the city underground. The Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola was built in the seventeenth century under the baton of Italian masters. There are several sculptures in the facade - in addition to St. Ignatius of Loyola, there is also a depiction of St. Joseph or St. Francis Xavier. The building stands on the outskirts of Masaryk Square, where you can find, for example, the historic department store Prior.

For the fourth decade, continuous archaeological research has been carried out here. Not far from Jihlava, near the small town of Brtnice, is located ruin Rokštejn Castle, formerly comprising two castle palaces and a complex of farm buildings. The Valdštejn family also once owned this castle, it was built in the thirteenth century, only to be completely abandoned less than two hundred years later. The area is freely accessible to the public and in the summer you can look forward to some culture...

3. ZOO Jihlava

Small but very pretty! Even so, one could briefly comment on the Jihlava zoo, where, according to tradition, there are no bars - and visitors are much closer to the animals. Nine hectares and a total of seven hundred animals, specializing especially in felines. ZOO was founded already in the second half of the fifties of the last century, In addition to the snow leopard and ocelot, tigers, leopards, kangaroos, zebras and turtles also live here, so everyone gets something for themselves!

4. Jihlav catacombs

Over twenty-five kilometers of corridors and allegedly the presence of a guardian of the gate leading to other worlds. You will definitely not be bored in the local catacombs (or to be more precise - underground - because there is no burial ground here). The underground was first opened to the public shortly before the outbreak of World War II, in modern times, they were made available by the civic association Jihlavský netopýr in 1990. Silver was not mined here, in short it was (most likely) that there was not enough space in the city itself - and the underground could be inhabited just as well...

5. Water Paradise Aquapark

There is also a large water park in Jihlava, which offers not only an indoor pool, but also a large outdoor area with a capacity of two and a half thousand people and the possibility to visit wellness services. 85 meter long water slide, but also an outdoor paddling pool for the little ones, enjoy a wild river or a water castle, there are a lot of attractions!

Jihlava is a big city and the local entertainment looks like it - there is simply more than enough of it here! So plan a nice trip and either go underground for a bit or enjoy some water fun during the summer months. There really are no limits to imagination!
